As for all the Verduno wineries located in Verduno\u2019s historic centre \u2013 even though we are in a castle \u2013 there\u2019s always a familiar sense of the past. This is certainly thanks to Gabriella Burlotto but also to my long association with her husband Franco Bianco, which dates back at least to the late 1980s, when I was taking my first steps into the wine world, and he was already bottling his Barbaresco under the Fratelli Bianco label. Sentimentality aside, what matters most to you readers is that this estate\u2019s Barolo with their austere, classic yet never aggressive style, have long been among the benchmarks for the commune. In some vintages, these wines are capable of truly remarkable leaps and bounds, more frequent in recent years thanks in part to the quiet, measured contribution of oenologist Mario Andrion. Last, but not least, the role of Marcella Bianco, daughter of Gabriella and Franco, who is now an established ambassador for both the estate and Barolo in general.<\/p>\n
