Rocche Massalupo

Treiso and Alba
Rocche Massalupo

This zone, whose name became of common usage only with the achievement of MGA status, represents a sort of continuation of Giacone. The Fondoprà farmstead side, more gentle in slope, has soils and a morphology which recall the Basso zone (Giacone MGA) and the wines as well recall that style, although with a bit less depth. The Trinchero farmstead side, and above all the part which faces onto Montersino, has steeper vineyards and whiter soils which anticipate the slope of Giacone, which rise towards Rocche dei Sette Fratelli. Here the style is a bit lighter, though it maintains a certain basic ruggedness as well.
