Roncagliette

The name Roncagliette, like that of Roccalini, may sound new to many wine lovers. Actually, behind this MGA are two crus that have made history in the denomination: Angelo Gaja’s Sorì Tildin and Costa Russi, which a few years ago returned to bear the name Barbaresco after a lapse. Sorì Tildin originates in the long, narrow amphitheater located in the upper part of the MGA, while Costa Russi comes from a lower, somewhat detached position that benefits from better exposure. By contrast, the vineyards at the foot of the Cascina Berchialla are cooler, as sensed in the Barbaresco of Olek Bondonio, which tends to be less vigorous but more floral and expressive in bouquet.
