Canova

Situated exactly at the eastern boundary of the appellation, the Canova MGA extends over a ridge line which begins at Bricco di Neive and descends behind Rivetti and Serraboella before flattening out as its approaches the plain. Unlike the two crus just cited, however, the more significant slopes in terms of vineyard plantings are the eastern ones even though the warmest slopes are on the other side of the ridge (to which the name Canova is more closely tied, given the presence of the estate of the same name or Cascina Nuova). Having said that, and on the basis of the wines tasted up until now, the differences are less evident than one might suppose and consist of more perceptible tannins in the wines from the western slopes. The volume and density of structure, instead, are similar.
